NEWS RELEASE: January 14, 2025
On January 9, 2025, Governor Inslee approved and executed the site certification agreement (SCA) for the Wautoma Solar project.
EFSEC submitted its recommendation for the project, located in Benton County, to Gov. Inslee on November 22, 2024.
The recommendation came after adjudication procedures determined that the project warranted preemption from Benton County land use ordinances. Impacts to wildlife and habitat, tribal cultural resources, and elements such as visual aesthetics were studied by EFSEC Council and staff prior to issuing the recommendation.
“I’m really pleased that the Wautoma Solar project received a unanimous vote by the EFSEC Council,” EFSEC Chair Kathleen Drew said. “Innergex Renewable Development worked closely with EFSEC staff to resolve issues raised during the review process. We look forward to construction of this solar project that will add 470 MW of clean energy to achieve Washington State’s green energy goals.”
