About Badger Mountain Solar

On October 7, 2021, we received an application for site certification (ASC) from Aurora Solar, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Avangrid Renewables LLC, for the Badger Mountain Solar project. We held a public informational meeting and land use hearing on November 17, 2021.

On March 13, 2022, our Council adopted Order 881 that determined the application to be inconsistent with local land use plans and zoning ordinances. Avangrid requested an extension of the processing time for their ASC on September 6, 2023. On June 27, 2024, sent us a letter stating their intention to pause permitting activities until further notice. They subsequently requested a further extension of their paused activities for an indefinite period in a letter dated April 2, 2025. 

On July 20, 2026, we received a letter from Avangrid requesting the withdrawal of their ASC.
