About Kittitas Valley Wind Power Project

EFSEC received the application for site certification (ASC) for the Kittitas Valley Wind project in January 2003. On March 27, 2007, EFSEC sent their recommendation package for the project to Governor Gregoire. She then requested that EFSEC reconsider the recommended setback from local residences for some of the turbines. EFSEC sent a revised recommendation back to the Governor on August 15, 2007. On September 18, 2007, Governor Gregoire approved the project. Construction began on the project in 2010, and the project became operational later that year. In November 2008, the state Supreme Court upheld Governor Gregoire's approval of the project.
