Summary
On October 7, 2021, Aurora Solar, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Avangrid Renewables, LLC (Avangrid), submitted an application for a 200 megawatt (MW) solar generation facility with an optional 200 MW battery energy storage system.
In a June 2024 letter, Avangrid informed the Council of its intention to pause permitting activities.
Description
On October 7, 2021, Aurora Solar, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Avangrid Renewables, LLC, submitted an application for site certification (ASC) for a 200 megawatt (MW) solar generation facility with an optional 200 MW battery energy storage system in Douglas County, Washington approximately 3.5 miles east of the East Wenatchee city limits.
We held a virtual informational public hearing on November 17, 2021.
On September 6, 2023, Avangrid Renewables, LLC, requested an extension of the processing time for the application until April 7, 2025. On June 27, 2024, the applicant sent us a letter indicating their intention to pause permitting activities. In a letter dated April 2, 2025, Avangrid requested a further extension for an indefinite period.
