On December 22, 2022, BrightNight, LLC, submitted an application for site certification (ASC) for the Hop Hill Solar project.
The project consists of a solar generation facility producing up to 500 megawatts, a battery energy storage system (BESS) capable of storing up to 500 megawatts, and related interconnection and ancillary support infrastructure. The project site is in unincorporated Benton County.
We held an informational public meeting and land use consistency hearing on February 23, 2023, at the Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick, WA and virtually.
The applicant requested 12-month extensions of the application processing period on November 3, 2023, November 11, 2024, and October 28, 2025. The most recent request was approved by the Council during their November 2025 meeting.
