How rulemaking works
We write rules to implement and enforce state and federal environmental laws and rules. The Washington Administrative Code (WAC) contains all state agency rules, and we’re responsible for the rules in Title 463 WAC.
Rulemaking is the process we use to develop new rules or change existing ones. It typically involves several steps, including periods when members of the public can ask questions and share comments.
