Carriger Solar is a proposed solar photovoltaic (PV) electric generating facility with a capacity of 160 megawatts (MW) of alternating current (AC) solar energy and 63 MW of battery energy storage. The proposed site is located approximately two miles northwest of Goldendale.
At its meeting on June 25, 2025, the Council voted to adopt the draft site certification agreement (SCA) for the Carriger Solar project, which will be sent to the governor along with the Council's recommendation for approval of the project.
The Council voted June 25, 2025, to send a recommendation to the governor to approve the Carriger Solar project. On August 22, 2025, the Governor responded to the Council's recommendation asking for additional consideration.
Description
The Governor asked EFSEC to provide the Yakama Nation opportunity to provide input on proposed mitigation measures to protect Traditional Cultural Properties, involving setbacks, screening tools, traffic control plans, and site restoration plans.
The Governor also directed EFSEC to provide the Yakama Nation with an opportunity to review and provide input on a memorandum from the EFSEC Chair to the Council membership describing the Chair and staff’s June 4, 2025, meeting with the Tribal Council.
Governor Ferguson has directed EFSEC to complete these steps and resubmit a draft SCA to his office within 60 days
